Silver eyeshadow can be tricky to pull off. It’s a look that designers choose for maximum impact on the catwalk. Derek Lam’s models rocked it a few seasons ago.
Chanel’s SS13 models wore silver eyes on the catwalk and have revived the look in a big way for 2013.

Silver isn’t a runway-only look. Worn well (as above), it can look fresh and sophisticated.

Worn badly and you can look like an extra from a low-budget sci-fi movie.

This look (above) only works for catwalk or editorial. It would take a brave lady to rock this look on the street.

It’s all in the application

  • Use a light hand when applying powder shadow in silver. It’s easier to build up more product than to remove excess.
  • Use a tissue/ post-it/ shadow shield to catch any shadow fallout. Or makeup eyes before foundation. Sparkle shades like silver can make an almighty mess of your flawless base.
  • Use multiple tones of grey and silver to add depth to the colour, keeping the brightest/ lightest silver shade for inner corners.
  • Keep the rest of the face minimal. Flawless skin, neutral lip, subtle blush works best.
