Recently I reviewed the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils and I absolutely loved them. The Jumbo Lip Pencils were next on my must-try list. These are similar in shade range to the Nars lip pencils (which I love love love, especially the matte shades), but much cheaper. So… how do these measure up?
It’s double or nothing with this lip liner and lipstick in one. Our masterful Jumbo Lip Pencils infuse lips with alluring, nourishing color, and help you create a precision pout. Line, define and color with one jumbo pencil. Plus the mineral oil formula does not dry out your lips and it goes on smoothly. We likey. Available in 25 shades.
+ highly pigmented with great colour payoff. Just like the Jumbo Eye Pencils, the lip pencils did not disappoint.
+ creamy formula glides onto lips and feels very hydrating. The Nars pencils can be quite drying on the lips, but these are silky with a satin finish.
– smudges easily due to the creamy formula. Smudging can be minimised by layering and blotting between layers. Takes a bit longer to apply but you get the desired finish in the end.
– gold shade looks more bronze, which is not a quality issue, but I was disappointed. I bought this online looking for a true gold lip shade and the colour, gorgeous as it is, doesn’t look like the sample colour online (note it looks like shades 706 Gold and 723 Narcisse are sold out as they’ve been removed from the site, just 3 days after ordering… obviously popular shades for Christmas).
– lacks the precision of a slim lip liner due to it’s chubby shape. I overcame this problem by applying with a lip brush, but it’s not particularly convenient for use on-the-go.
Yay or nay
An emphatic yay in spite of the precision issue mentioned above. The quality is almost as good as Nars but at a fraction of the price, you keep an extra tenner in your pocket (or just buy more shades).
