I’ve been itching to try these Jumbo Eye Pencils ever since I saw a Queen of Blending YouTube video where she used the crayon in Milk as an eye base for an amazingly vibrant eye look.
NYX Cosmetics are not widely available in UK stores but they do carry the full range online at www.nyxcosmeticsstore.co.uk, with free delivery on orders over £50. Friday was payday so I thought, why not? Here’s how I got on.

A radiant eye liner that also doubles as an eye shadow. Made with a blend of mineral oil and powder, our creamy Jumbo Eye Pencils glide on effortlessly no pulling, tugging or fading and come in a rainbow of vivid hues. Some call her chubby. We say voluptuous. Available in 28 shades.
+ creamy, blendable formula so you can soften the colour by blending our with fingers or a brush. Two or more colours can be easily blended together for a multi-dimensional effect.
+ highly pigmented. One application gives a strong, solid layer of colour rather than a soft wash if colour.
+ true colour i.e. what you see is what you get. The colour of the crayon is the same as on the skin.
– slippage is likely to be high as the formula is so creamy. This is easily resolved by using a setting spray (see previous blog) after application. Once set with setting spray the colour shouldn’t budge all day.
– colour match online is patchy. Unfortunately NYX Cosmetics are not widely available in UK stores. The online store carries the full range but colour selection online is tricky. The colours online are the approximate shades, rather than being swatches. The colour shade online can be very different to the swatch itself. For example, shade 621A Pure Gold looks more orangey online than in the stick and on skin (see below).
This colour mismatch could be easily rectified by displaying the crayons themselves as they are ‘true colours’ and are a better match than the shade samples currently shown online.
– not precise enough to use as an eyeliner on its own (NYX cream liners work better) but would be good if you want a soft shadowy eyeline.
Yay or nay
Yay for sure. The shade range, price and colour payoff alone make it worth trying. I love experimenting with vibrant, colourful eyes and this is a great, cost-effective way to do it.
Thanks for reading, until next time.
